Human Resources Manager – HR Generalist – Job Purpose

To develop and deliver HR Management Strategies, which support the company’s overall strategic goals and objectives. Be expected to contribute at both a strategic and operational level, in order to identify HR priorities and recommend appropriate HR Management solutions which support business aims, in addition to providing customer-focused HR service. Provide expert professional advice and support to managers and staff on all aspects of HR Management, which fully reflects the company’s desire to be an employer of choice, current employment legislation and best practice.


Main responsibilities / job accountabilities as Human Resources Manager – HR Manager

  • Prepare and implement the annual HR Plan to support the overall strategic goals and objectives of the company
  • Identify, design and implement strategic HR projects, as and when required
  • Provide recruitment support to managers and lead the recruitment process of all staff
  • The Human Resources Manager works closely with senior and line managers, providing them with expert guidance, coaching and support on all HR activities
  • Keep up to date with legal developments and advise management on compliance and risk factors
  • Develop, implement and maintain HR policies and procedures to ensure effective, fair and consistent management of staff throughout the organisation
  • Ensure that managers and staff are aware of the policies and procedures and able to operate them effectively
  • Monitor and review the system for performance appraisal and continually develop as necessary, ensuring that annual appraisals are carried out in a timely manner and followed up
  • Develop and maintain an effective partnership with the Employee Representatives ensuring consultation and communication practices are routinely adopted, the HR Manager enables management to make effective decisions and successfully implement proposals
  • Provide advice and guidance on individual employee relations cases, ensuring that these are well managed and meet the requirements of the company’s policies, best practice and employment legislation
  • In consultation with line managers, the Human Resources Manager follows up individual development needs and sources external training provision as and when required, monitoring training costs against budget
  • Maintain training records for all staff and assist with any training initiatives, as required
  • Make recommendations on a cost-effective management development programme to support the company’s HR Management strategies
  • Gather and analyse market data to measure the competitiveness of the company’s compensation and benefits package, and make recommendations as appropriate
  • Assist with the annual salary review process, as and when required
  • Monitor sickness and absence levels and provide monthly management statistics to the Senior Management Team
  • Review and manage new starter and leaver processes, including conducting exit interviews for all staff
  • Monitor HR trends throughout the organisation and provide management information on Key Performance Indicators to the Managing Director as appropriate
  • Manage and oversee investigations, disciplinary and grievance matters
  • Manage and oversee health issues and medical referrals
  • Manage the information held on the HR database and personnel files to ensure it is updated in a timely and accurate manner and complies with any legal or data protection policies
  • As Human Resources Manager you work in a professional manner with the works council and other legal advisors an all relevant HR cases
  • Work with other HR Managers within the Corporate Group to learn from each other and improve processes

Human Resources Manager – HR Generalist in a leading position – Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Degree (or equivalent) / Post Graduate Diploma in HR Management
  • Proven generalist experience, including the ability to work at both strategic and operational levels
  • Fully conversant and up-to-date with all aspects of German employment law and HR best practices
  • Experience in the development and implementation of employment policies and procedures
  • Experience at recruitment interviewing and assessment at a senior level
  • Experience of restructuring and redundancy exercises
  • Experience with Change Management
  • Influencing, persuading, coaching and negotiating skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to create HR communications appropriate for each audience
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office applications, HR Programs, E-Mail and the Internet
  • The ability to demonstrate and drive the organization’s core values
